In response to a widely shared video depicting a violent bullying incident involving students at Igbinedion Secondary School in Edo State, Afrobeats musician Davido—real name David Adeleke—reacted fiercely.
On Sunday, the artist responded on X by vehemently denouncing the actions. In reaction to the video going viral on the internet, he said, “Fuckin animals… so disgusting.” A fellow student who had fallen to the ground is repeatedly attacked by two male classmates in the video.
The youngster screams in agony as one of the attackers pulls him by his school uniform and stomps on his head and chest. While filming the event, a third youngster can be heard pleading with them to stop. The unsettling video swiftly caused a great deal of controversy on social media, which prompted the school administration to take rapid action. As a result, the school in question suspended the kid who made the film and expelled the bullying classmates.
Additionally, the Edo State Police Command stated in a statement that the student who videotaped the incident has been suspended, and the other pupils involved have been expelled. According to police spokesman Eno Ikioyedem, Monday Agbonika, the Commissioner of Police, has instructed the local Divisional Police Officer to conduct a thorough inquiry. The statement went on, “Anyone found guilty will face the full weight of the law.
The Edo State Police Command strongly condemns acts of bullying, violence, or intimidation among students.”
