Garba Maidoki, the member for the Kebbi South Senatorial District, has disclosed that the only reason he decided to enter politics was the ongoing insecurity in his constituency.

In a television interview on Tuesday, Maidoki said that he had just switched from the All Progressives Congress to the African Democratic Congress due to internal conflicts within the ruling party over the Kebbi State primaries.

He claimed that although he had no personal desire to run for government, he felt obliged to take action after years of community security issues forced locals to look for legislative representation.

“The insecurity in my community is the only reason I entered politics. I’m not interested in getting involved in politics. At the communal level, we have taken every precaution to keep ourselves safe.

Then it occurred to us that using ballot papers sensibly is preferable to employing bullets,” he remarked.
