A N63.478 billion supplemental appropriations bill for the state and its 27 local government councils has been signed into law by Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi.
The state’s 2026 budget is increased by the supplemental provision from N901.841 billion to N948.210 billion, and the total budgets of the 27 local governments are increased from N288.848 billion to N305.957 billion. The 27 local government councils receive N17.109 billion of the supplemental appropriation, while the state receives N46.369 billion.
After reviewing 186 proposals, the Jigawa State House of Assembly enacted the 2026 Budget Review and Supplementary Appropriation Bill, which the governor signed.
The Assembly stated that the extra money would be distributed to several ministries, departments, and agencies to improve the execution of government initiatives and programs, with a focus on education and agriculture.
Lawan Muhammad Dansure, the majority leader and chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, introduced the bill and stated that the budget review included an increased revenue forecast of N24.653 billion and savings of N49.878 billion to be redistributed to different budget lines.
