Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has criticised Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), claiming that he suffers from agitated depression.
In a tweet on his official X account on Friday, Keyamo asserted that Atiku was now extremely hurt and resentful because President Bola Tinubu had outwitted him politically. Keyamo statement follows Atiku’s criticism of Tinubu’s 30-day fuel price reduction.
According to the newspaper, Taiwo Oyedele, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, announced that the Federal Government was providing a 30-day discount on petrol supplied by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, or NNPCL.
Keyamo responded by saying that Atiku was upset that Tinubu won the president on his first try whereas Atiku has been running since 1993.
Recalling that both men have been in politics for decades, the minister emphasised that Atiku was vice president during Tinubu tenure as governor of Lagos.
He claims that Atiku was viewed as being at the top of the political hierarchy at the time, but Tinubu went on to win the presidency.
The politician, who was born in the Delta, said that rather than supporting Atiku outbursts, his allies should assist him in getting mental health treatment because his actions could cause him to lose his remaining supporters as he approaches political obscurity.
“What we are seeing with all of his recent outbursts against Mr. President, disguised as opposition heroics, is actually agitated depression, a higher form of depression in the field of mental health.”
Atiku Abubakar pain and resentment are now readily apparent. Keyamo stated, “He feels that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu finally outwitted him politically to obtain the most sought-after position of President, and he can’t mentally deal with this fact, which is the source of his pain and bitterness.”
