The attack took place on the evening of Sunday, November 10, 2024, in Maramiauri village, Cross Kawu Ward, near Lake Chad.
A dozen fishermen were abducted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, leaving three dead.
According to a private JTF source, the attackers arrived at about 11:45pm, rounded up villagers and killed two fishermen, Newspaper Pledge reported.
Thirteen others were reportedly abducted, and another body was later found in the bush. A local government official confirmed reports that a large number of rebels were spotted in the Jem area of Crosskau district.
The official expressed concern for the safety of residents and called for urgent military intervention. He noted that these rebels were seen roaming around without vehicles or weapons.
The incident follows recent operations by Chadian troops to track the terrorists to Kukawa LGA, where many are believed to be taking refuge.
