An explosion occurred in Jos on Tuesday morning, sending shock waves through the surrounding community.
Witnesses said the blast happened around 10:30 a.m. near the densely populated Terminus Market area.
Initial reports said the explosion injured several people, with some sources saying some may have been killed.
The extent of the damage is not yet clear, but witnesses described scenes of destruction and chaos.
“I was nearby when I heard a loud bang,” a witness said. “I saw people running and screaming. It was terrible,” added Gyan Buba, a clothing salesman who confirmed the incident.

The Plateau State Police Command is yet to make an official statement on the incident.
Attempts to reach the command’s spokesperson, Arabo Alfred, were unsuccessful as his phone was switched off. However, a security source at the police headquarters in Jos confirmed the incident, adding that an investigation has been launched.
“The area has been sealed off while investigators begin to assess the situation. We are working to determine the cause of the explosion,” the official added. “We call on the public to remain calm and assure them that all measures will be taken to ensure their safety.”
