Following enforcement actions over a purported $40 million debt, properties connected to Alhaji Abdulrahman Musa Bashar, Chairman of the Rahamaniyya Group of Companies, have been sealed in Lagos and Abuja. After Petrichor Energy FZCO received court orders to recover the contested amount, the enforcement process got underway on Wednesday.
Court records state that on February 25, 2026, the Federal High Court in Lagos gave Petrichor Energy FZCO permission to register and enforce a ruling from the High Court of Justice of England and Wales in Nigeria.
On May 15, 2026, the court issued writs of attachment and sale, allowing enforcement against Bashar’s assets as well as those of Ultimate Oil & Gas FZCO under a different writ.
At properties connected to the respondents in Lagos and Abuja, court enforcement officers are said to have served and posted enforcement documents.
The conflict arises from transactions involving petroleum products between Ultimate Oil & Gas and Petrichor Energy, formerly known as CE Energy DMCC.
Case filings state that between 2022 and 2023, Ultimate Oil & Gas received petrol and Jet-A1 aviation fuel from Petrichor Energy. Legal and arbitration proceedings in several nations are said to have resulted in an outstanding debt of approximately $40 million as a result of the transactions.
In separate proceedings involving Ultimate Oil & Gas DMCC and CE Energy DMCC and Bashar, the Commercial Court of the High Court of Justice of England and Wales rendered rulings on February 14, 2025.
The rulings addressed principal amounts, interest, and charges associated with Bashar’s personal guarantee. A request for a stay of execution was also denied by the court.
As part of the ongoing recovery attempts, the English High Court subsequently issued a global freezing order against Ultimate Oil & Gas and Bashar on March 30, 2026.
