Stephen Abwatseya, an e-hailing driver who shared a video of Alex Ikwechegu, Member of Parliament for Aba North and South, Abia State, attacking him while delivering a courier, was in a state of shock on Thursday, November 8th, after apologizing to Nigerians for his actions, which shocked Nigerians.
In a video statement made available to press on Thursday, Mr. Abwatseya expressed regret for provoking the incident that invited the reaction of the lawmaker.
He said: “Hello Nigerians. My name is Stephen Abwatseya. A few days ago, there was a misunderstanding with His Royal Highness Alex Mascot Ikwuechegwu.
I would like to apologise to him for any words or actions I may have taken that may have offended him.
“I would like to say to Nigerians that this is not the time to divide us on grounds of religion, tribe or region. We should come together and see how we can unite and move our country forward.
“Fellow Nigerians, let us forgive and forget. It even says in our Lord’s Prayer: ‘Lord, forgive us as we forgive those who sin against us.’ Without forgiveness there is no justice. Thank you.”
The driver also expressed gratitude to his family and supporters who assisted him in the case. I want to thank you all. I love you all. Thank you. May God bless Nigeria. ”
Recall that Ikwechegu attacked a Bolt driver who was delivering a package.
Abwatseya shared a video of the altercation at Ikwechegu’s residence in Maitama, Abuja.
The footage shows the apparently angry aide repeatedly slapping and insulting the driver after the driver asked him to go outside to collect a package of snails that was to be delivered.
After the incident, Ikwechegu publicly apologized, owning up to his actions and expressing regret for his behaviour during the altercation.
