The demands include the immediate and unconditional release of all detained protesters, the release of their assets, and compensation for the hardships they suffered during the peaceful protests.
#EndBadGovernance protest organizers have presented a 17-point ultimatum to the Tinubu-led Federal Government, which is preparing for nationwide protests on October 1, 2024.
The demands include the immediate and unconditional release of all detained protesters, the release of their assets, and compensation for the hardships they suffered during the peaceful protests.
The protesters, led by prominent activist Omoyele Sowore, are also calling for the firing and prosecution of government officials accused of suppressing protests and human rights violations.
Central to the list is the demand to repeal the 1999 Constitution and replace it with a new one enacted by the people. Furthermore, the movement is pushing for a restructuring of Nigeria to better reflect the country’s diversity and the aspirations of its various regions.
Other demands include comprehensive police reform, accountability for abuses of power, and addressing issues of governance, corruption and economic hardship that have led to widespread discontent across the country.
Other demands include: “Pay Nigerian workers a minimum wage of not less than ₦250,000 per month;
“Invest heavily in education and provide scholarships instead of loans to Nigerian students; we insist on free compulsory education for all Nigerian children.”
“Release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally and demilitarise the South East.
All #ENDSARS and political prisoners must also be released and compensated.”
