Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has congratulated Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, ahead of the gubernatorial election scheduled for Saturday, November 16.

Obasanjo on Monday visited the governor at his official residence in Akure, the Ondo State capital, to express his support.

In his speech, Obasanjo commended Aiyedatiwa for his commitment to reaching out to the people and sharing his vision for the state despite the challenges of the campaign.

Obasanjo commended Aiyedatiwa for his hard work and determination, commending his courage in presenting his plans and programmes to the people.

In his speech, the former president wished the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate success in the electoral process.

“I understand the challenges for you this time. I remember when I was campaigning in 1999, we went to all six Southwest states in one day.

“We started from Akure here in Ondo State, then drove to Ekiti and I think we reached Lagos at about 8pm. This is an important part of the process and I wish you all the best,” the former president said.

Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the former president’s contributions to Nigeria’s development, adding that his legacy is indelible.

He said Obasanjo, despite his high profile and military background, remained a very humble and humane leader.
