Funke Akindele, an award-winning actress and director, has stated that she is still more interested in sharing real African stories than in competing with other professionals in the field. Speaking at a National Film and Video Censors Board awards ceremony, Akindele stated that her inspiration stems from cultural impact and representation.
“I’m not in a competition.It’s not a contest. All I want to do is share our Nigerian stories, which are African stories. She remarked, “I want us to feel loved and accepted.”
“I want people to see what we go through, learn from our films, and hear our tales straight from an African and Nigerian perspective.
