As she said in a social media video, the journey has been harrowing and discouraging, but the pursuit of wearing the golden crown has always driven her.
“My head says I’m tired, I can’t take it anymore, but my heart says don’t give up.

“This journey has not been easy for me mentally or emotionally. Tears, pain, trauma,” she said. In fact, the beauty queen had to overcome hardships to get this far.

A few months ago, her South African identity was questioned and she was nearly disgraced by the South African government.

Her problems actually started when she became a finalist in the Miss South Africa pageant and then faced criticism about her eligibility due to her Mozambican and Nigerian descent.

In a recent video on social media, she spoke about her challenging journey to the Miss Universe contest in Mexico.

“This journey has not been easy for me mentally and emotionally. Tears, pain, trauma.
“Days I wanted to give up, days I felt worthless and undeserving. But I refuse to let anyone or anything cloud my vision.”

Born to a Nigerian father and a Mozambican mother, Adesina made headlines when she competed in the Miss Universe pageant.

She then went on to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria beauty pageant, where she was crowned the winner, representing Taraba state. She will represent Nigeria in the Miss Universe competition on November 16th. She said she has been dreaming of stepping onto the Miss Universe stage since 2017.

“Seven years later, I, Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adesina, will be stepping onto the Miss Universe stage. Whether I win or not, I am so proud of myself and filled with joy and fulfillment because I am achieving something that once seemed impossible. I imagined this moment and now I am making it a reality.

“This achievement is not just mine, it belongs to Nigeria and Africa. Your support and encouragement has been my driving force.”

As Adesina prepares to perform in Mexico, she has been sharing updates on her journey on social media, from stunning photos to her daily activities leading up to the finale.
