The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a wanted drug lord, Damilare Ajiboye, alias “Na God”, for evading arrest for 12 months.
The arrest followed a raid on his warehouse in Akala, Mushin area of Lagos.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, in a statement in Abuja on Sunday, said the suspects were arrested on Wednesday.
Babafemi said 1,101kg of Ghana Loud, a potent cannabis strain, was seized from the warehouse on September 4, 2023. He, however, said Ajiboye’s arrest at a bank in Ogun was the result of a well-coordinated effort by the agency’s Directorate of Asset and Financial Investigations, which tracked and sealed 20 bank accounts linked to the suspect.
In a related development, Babafemi said NDLEA operatives in Lagos on Friday arrested a wanted community leader and Sarkin Yanma of Badagry, Alhaji Bashir Talba.
He said this followed the arrest of his two wives and sons on September 18 and the seizure of a total of 226.2kg of cannabis from their home in Badagry.
In another operation in Lagos, the NDLEA said over 9.7kg of cannabis sativa and 50 litres of Monkey Tail, a fermented mixture of cannabis and dry gin, were recovered from a suspect named Florence Moses at Badore area of Ajah, Lekki State on Tuesday, September 18, when the drugs were seized. 24.
Meanwhile, in Kogi, three suspects were arrested, one Owolabi Dele, 42; one Ayodele Monday, 40; and one Olawale Ojo, 22, who was arrested by operatives of the NDLEA along the Okene-Lokoja-Abuja Expressway.
Babafemi added that they were arrested while transporting 132 bags of cannabis weighing 2,062.00kg in a Mercedes container truck from Osun to Dede, Abuja.
