Ondo State Government confirms two cases of cholera
Ondo State Government has confirmed two cases of cholera in the state. Banji Ajaka, the health commissioner, said the state has activated surveillance to respond immediately to any cholera outbreak.
Amaka said two cholera cases were reported in Okitipupa LGA, adding that the situation was under control thanks to the rapid response team.
“The surveillance team was also strengthened with trained and paid community informants and contact tracers for eight months,” he said. “They are deployed to actively search for cases in anticipation of any reported cholera outbreaks. »
The commissioner added that an emergency preparedness committee will be formed to work towards providing drinking water, sanitation and strengthening health facilities in the state.
He assured that the government would play its role by creating awareness and raising awareness through the media as well as through public participation.
