On Monday, November 11, some patients and their families protested at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State, over the prolonged power outage and water shortage.
The protest came after the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company cut power for 17 days over unpaid bills.
The hospital is allocated a “Band A” tariff, which translates into a monthly bill of N80 million.
The power outage affected vital services at the hospital, including surgeries, diagnostic tests and other important medical procedures.
A video shared by Oyo Affairs on X showed patients and their families gathering at the hospital to air their discontent.
“Stop killing people. People are dying here. The management is a thief. We need light,” one protester can be heard saying.
