Reports state that the fire started at around 11 p.m. and destroyed properties valued at millions of naira. Prior to the rescue team’s intervention, there were no recorded fatalities.
At Idumota, under the bridge, in the Ebute-Ero neighbourhood of Lagos Island, a destructive fire late Friday night destroyed several buildings used as auto repair shops, causing property losses amounting to millions of naira.
To contain the fire, men from the Nigeria Police, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Federal and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and others were on the scene.
The incident was confirmed by Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire Service and Permanent Secretary of LASEMA. At the time this report was written, the direct or indirect causes of the fire incident had not yet been determined.
As stated by Oke Osanyintolu, “When the LASEMA Response team arrived at the scene of the incident, they found that several buildings that served as stores for the sale of auto spare parts were completely destroyed by fire at the specified location.”

Thankfully, there were no casualties reported at the scene of the incident. There were no injuries. The fire destroyed goods and properties valued at hundreds of millions of naira.
Together, the rescue crew managed to contain the fire and stop it from spreading to nearby structures. “To ensure overall safety at the incident scene, the law enforcement agencies on the scene implemented crowd control measures.
” While dampening down exercises have begun to put out the last of the fire’s pockets, efforts were still underway as of 8 a.m. today to completely put out the fire. Important items in the impacted stores were saved by the rescue crews.
