Outgoing Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has warned the new governor, Monday Okpeboro, not to put politics over security. Otherwise problems will arise.
Obaseki gave this advice in Benin during a national security meeting with heads of security agencies in the state.

He said that under his administration, security in the state is in a much better state than it was in 2016.
My advice to the new government is to take security seriously and never put politics over security. Problems will arise because the people must demand a safe environment.
“We have proven that it is possible because we have men and women who are capable and trained to provide security services to the state and its people,” Obaseki said. Obaseki attributed his success to the collaboration and support of security chiefs, who he said worked together to change the perspective and perception of security in the state.
He attributed the development and growth in the country, as well as investor interest in the state, to the secure environment in the state.
Obaseki further noted that through the use of technology, his administration was able to cover the state and make it safe for the people. He added that they were able to record any incidents in the state and collectively respond to the security situation.
He, however, called for the participation of all stakeholders to improve the situation in the country.
