Ameer Habib Tajje, leader of the emerging terrorist group Lakurawa, has issued a warning to notorious bandit Bello Turji.
He called on Turji to condemn his criminal activities.
A statement by insurgency expert Zagazola Makama said Taji was preparing to send a powerful delegation to Turji.
According to Makama, “In a strange turn of events, Amir Habib Taji, an influential leader of the Lakurawa group in the northwestern Sokoto region, is reportedly preparing to send a powerful delegation to the bandit group’s leader, Bello Turji, to demand that he cease his criminal activities and give up completely.”
Turji, a notorious bandit leader who is on the watch list of Nigeria’s security agencies, has been wreaking havoc in the northwestern part of the country with his tactics including kidnapping and imposing levies on farmers before they can harvest their crops.
In response to Turji activities, a new jihadis
terrorist group, Lakrawa, re-emerged and killed around 15 people in Kebbi in November. Lakurawa operates in Kebbi and Sokoto states.
On November 6, 2024, Lakurawa emerged to collect taxes and duties from communities in Sokoto state.
