Seat Dispute Causes Delay on Air Peace Flight

A seating issue that had delayed the aircraft’s takeoff has been resolved when two passengers on an Air Peace flight opted to leave after accepting a fifty percent discount.

The incident started when a female customer, claiming she had a valid ticket and that another passenger had taken her seat, refused to disembark despite airline workers indicating the flight was fully booked.

Passengers initially showed no interest in volunteering to board the next flight in exchange for a fifty percent discount, despite a plea from Air Peace staff.

In the end, the woman at the center of the conflict was able to stay on board after two passengers consented to exit the plane. The agreement allowed the flight to continue and ended the stalemate.

Many Nigerians have questioned how travellers with legitimate tickets ended up having to bargain for seats on an aircraft they had previously paid for, and the incident has generated a lot of internet conversation.

Social media users vented their annoyance at what they perceived as inadequate airline management and overbooking procedures that lead to needless confrontations between travellers and employees.
