Tinubu attended Ramaphosa’s inauguration
President Bola Tinubu will attend the inauguration of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. According to Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Tinubu will leave Lagos for Pretoria, South Africa on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
“President Bola Tinubu will leave Lagos for Pretoria, South Africa on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 to attend the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa,” he said.
“President Ramaphosa’s inauguration took place after he was re-elected as president for a second term. President Tinubu will return to Nigeria after the ceremony.
Newspaper Pledge reports that the South African parliament has re-elected Cyril Ramaphosa following a coalition agreement between the ruling African National Congress, ANC and opposition parties. The new government includes Ramaphosa’s ANC, the Democratic Alliance (DA), the main opposition party and others.
After ruling for 30 years since the end of apartheid in South Africa, the ANC lost control in the last election, leading to the formation of a coalition.
