President Bola Tinubu has been criticized for attending the Arab-Islamic summit in Saudi Arabia.
Former All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Charles Udeogaraneya said Tinubu’s participation in the summit was a flagrant violation of the Nigerian Constitution.
According to a Newspaper Pledge, Udeogaraneya maintained that Nigeria is a secular state and Tinubu has committed impeachable offences.
According to him, the president stressed that Nigeria is neither an Arab nor an Islamic state and has sworn to uphold the constitution.
“Hence, unilaterally involving Nigeria in the affairs of Arab and Islamic countries is a grave insult to the Nigerian people and the Nigerian Constitution,” Udeogaraneya said. He also noted that Nigeria is a predominantly Christian country in terms of religion.
The former presidential candidate stressed that such blatant disregard and disregard for Nigeria’s true standing on the international stage is highly regrettable.
He stressed that most Nigerians are Christians and that Nigerians are staunchly in support of Israel in all international affairs, advising the National Assembly to advise the President to avoid such actions.
