Upon his return, Vice President Shettima immediately briefed President Tinubu on the national situation and other official engagements, including his visit to Sweden where he represented Nigeria at a high-level bilateral meeting.
Vice President Sen Kassim Shettima has cancelled his visit to the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Summit in Samoa and returned to Nigeria.
The Vice President’s visit was abruptly halted following an incident at JFK airport in New York where a foreign object damaged the plane, requiring urgent repairs.
President Bola had initially appointed Ahmed Tinubu Shettima as head of the Nigerian delegation to the summit.
However, following the incident, a team of ministers represented Nigeria at the event instead. Upon his return, Vice President Shettima immediately briefed President Tinubu on the country’s situation and other official engagements, including his visit to Sweden where he represented Nigeria in high-level bilateral consultations.
During his visit to Sweden, Shettima met with several government dignitaries, including Crown Princess Victoria and the Swedish Prime Minister, to discuss bilateral relations.
The meeting was part of Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international partnerships and promote economic development.
The State House of Assembly on Monday released photos of Vice President Shettima and President Tinubu in conversation at the Presidential Villa.
President Tinubu will return to Nigeria on October 19, 2024, to resume his duties and continue his dialogue with the Vice President on domestic and international issues.
