Zuze has filed a lawsuit in Harare civil court, claiming that Gonye’s actions, including alleged infidelity and disrespect, require financial compensation.
Harare woman Shamiso Zuze has filed a lawsuit against her ex-partner Givemore Gonye, seeking $100 a month for causing her severe mental and physical suffering during their two-year relationship.
Zuze has filed a lawsuit in Harare civil court, claiming that Gonye’s actions, including alleged infidelity and disrespect, require financial compensation.
In her court statement, Zuze alleged that Gonye had often disrespected her, including by bringing other women to his home, which led to conflict. She recounted an instance where he was allegedly seen with another woman, which led to a physical altercation.
“He had a habit of bringing different women to my house… He despised me and I should pay for the pain,” Zuzé explained.
Gonyé refuted her own claims, claiming Zuzé was financially dependent on him and often made unreasonable demands.
She also accused Zuzé of blocking his attempts to end the relationship and making false claims about alleged infidelity.
“She said I was her only source of income,” he explained, adding that she refused to end the relationship because of the financial support he gave her. After hearing both sides, Judge Judith Taruvinga issued appropriate peace orders, directing both Zuze and Gonye to avoid further confrontation and maintain the peace.
