In order to further propel Nigeria’s growth, Minister of Works Dave Umahi has expressed hope that God will continue to lead President Bola Tinubu till 2031. During an inspection visit of ongoing bridge projects in Lagos State, including the Carter Bridge, whose reconstruction is scheduled to start next week, Umahi made the comments on Thursday.
The minister claimed that the Tinubu administration would continue to get supernatural assistance in addressing the country’s problems, especially insecurity.
He urged Nigerians to support and collaborate with the administration in its attempts to address security issues across the country, saying that the same God who put Tinubu in power will also be there to help solve the nation’s challenges.
While acknowledging that no leader wants instability while in office, he emphasised that any responsible government must face obstacles head-on whenever they emerge, adding that this is precisely the strategy being used by the current administration.
Umahi went on to say that he thought Tinubu would be given the discernment and fortitude required to solve the nation’s security concerns as well as other issues, regardless of whether they were politically motivated.
The minister also reaffirmed the government’s belief that Tinubu’s leadership continued to enjoy divine favour and expressed confidence that the current administration would see through to completion all the projects it had started, saying that the hands that started the work would also be the ones to finish it.
Speaking particularly about the Carter Bridge project, Umahi said that it is part of the government’s five-year development plan and that its renovation is anticipated to be finished in three years.
