The PDP leadership said he had committed acts in the past two years that could land the party in trouble. The Peoples Democratic Party in Ward 7, Ilewore Local Government Area of Osun State, on Tuesday suspended Chairman, Governing Body of Osun State University of Education, Olangun, Peter Babalola, for alleged anti-party activities.
Babalola, a native of Ikire, previously served as Chief of Staff to former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and later as Chairman, Local Civil Service Committee in the cabinet of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The letter suspending Babalola, signed by 17 members of the Ilewore Ward 7 Executive Committee, was dated Tuesday, August 27 and addressed to Sunday Bisi, PDP chairman in Osun state.
PDP leaders cited the reason for Babalola’s suspension as being acts that could land the party in trouble in the past two years.
“After careful consideration of Elder Peter Babalola’s various anti-party activities in the PDP for the past two years and his regular involvement in various activities that may tarnish the reputation of the party as well as the fact that he has not participated in party conventions while the PDP district councils have attended local government meetings for the past two years, the PDP Executive Committee of Ilewole Local Government Area 07 hereby suspends Elder Peter Adebayo Babalola of Ilewole Local Government Area PDP Area 07 with effect from today, August 27, 2024.
“With this suspension, Elder Peter Adebayo Babalola will no longer be a member of Ilewole Local Government Area PDP Area 07,” the letter read.
