Uriel Oputa, a former Big Brother Naija housemate and businessman, has questioned the increasing trend of bringing private relationship conflicts to social media. In a post on her social media profile, Uriel expressed concern over why couples reveal their private arguments to the public.
She questioned, “When did social media become the family court?”
The reality star expressed her desire for a companion who knows that not all arguments must be made public.
She believes that spouses should work out their disagreements in private by open discussion, family intervention, or, if needed, professional counselling.
She also cautioned that people who follow these disagreements on social media might take sides, post screenshots, make memes, and argue in the comments before swiftly switching to another topic.
Uriel remarked, “Social media doesn’t love you the way you think it does.”
