Three suspected thieves on a getaway motorbike were apprehended by the Lagos State Police in Idimu, turning a regular 2:00 a.m. patrol into a significant bust. During a routine evening sweep in the Lagos State neighbourhood of Idimu, the Lagos State Police Command apprehended three suspected armed robbers.
According to the command on its X handle on Friday, the operation took place early on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at around 2:00 a.m., when police on patrol near the Car Wash Bus Stop by First Bank stopped three individuals on a motorbike.
The accused were identified as Jamiu Sahidu (26), Salisu Sannusi (30), and Abdullahi Mustapha (20). A machete hidden on the suspects, an army camouflage suit, four cell phones, a power bank, and some cash that may have been stolen from victims were purportedly found during a search of the suspects. Additionally, a Bajaj motorcycle with the license plate AKD 40 OM was found.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspects allegedly participated in a string of thefts that targeted gullible members of the public before riding off on a motorbike. The arrest, according to Lagos State Command Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai, shows the Command’s ongoing dedication to combating crime and guaranteeing public safety throughout the state.
“The Lagos State Police Command has recorded another operational success in its ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities across the State,” he declared.
He said that in order to destroy criminal networks, the command will keep up its patrols and intelligence-driven operations. The Commissioner urged citizens to assist security efforts by giving timely information, saying, “We are committed to safeguarding lives and property across the State.”
Fatai further urged everyone to exercise caution and notify the Command’s emergency lines or the closest police station about any suspicious activity.
Investigations are underway to ascertain the complete extent of the suspects’ alleged illegal behaviour and ensure their conviction while they are in police custody.
