Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has refuted widely circulated rumours that she was responsible for X influencer Big Ayo’s re-arrest. Toyin Abraham, a Nollywood actress, has refuted rumours that she was responsible for the re-arrest of Big Ayo, an X (formerly Twitter) influencer, calling them false and misleading.

The actress swiftly addressed the accusation on Tuesday after it went viral on social media. She said that she was actively working on a movie set and was not involved in any such behaviour at the time the report surfaced.

“Arrest Ayo because this information is false. On the set, I’m filming. Kindly ignore this. I didn’t put Ayo or anyone else in jail; it’s all love from me. Abraham said, “Thank you, and please take this down.”

According to a now-deleted post by an X user named Khan, Big Ayo was arrested again at the actress’s request. The tweet quickly gained attention on social media, reigniting conversations about Abraham’s previous encounters with trolls.

Prince Adeshina, another X user, refuted the accusation, stating that the actress was at a filming location and had nothing to do with any arrests. “To draw the public’s attention, Toyin Abraham was at a movie location and did not arrest Ayo,” Abraham tweeted in response to this clarification. Adeshina stated, “We urge the general public to consider the circulating report as fake news.

The claim originator may be required to provide evidence.”

The claim’s resurgence is related to a well-known incident that happened in July 2024, when Abraham filed a lawsuit against those who were allegedly cyberbullying her. Jeffery, an X user, said at the time that his mother had been detained due to trolling allegations.

The actress then clarified that Big Ayo, Jeffrey’s associate, was arrested for repeatedly harassing her and making derogatory comments about her family on the internet, not Jeffrey’s mother.

In a prior controversial message, Big Ayo accused the actress of financing her husband’s personal affairs with money purportedly connected to political backing. Abraham contacted police enforcement after the post caused a great deal of indignation.

The actress expressed emotional concern at the ongoing online harassment and defended her conduct at the time, saying she would not put up with insults thrown at her family. She underlined that she had to respond in order to preserve her own and her loved ones’ dignity.

Abraham’s public endorsement of President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections has been partially blamed for her battles with online trolls. On social media, her support caused a lot of anger, with many people attacking her personally.

The actress reaffirmed her peaceful position in the face of the growing issue, urging the public to ignore the untrue claims and reiterating that she has no animosity against anyone involved.

The incident highlights the persistent issue of misleading information on social media and the growing need for responsible digital engagement in Nigeria’s entertainment sector.
