Four months after announcing her commitment to follow the gospel to her fans and followers, controversial actress Tonto Dikeh has shown that it was not a whim. The politician and actress announced in February that she has finished a discipleship program at Streams of Joy International, the church of Pastor Jerry Eze.
The 40-year-old discussed a profound spiritual rebirth that has altered her outlook on life, faith, and service while displaying her discipleship certificate in a video uploaded to her Instagram profile.
A few weeks later, Tonto saved a schoolgirl from what she described as a demonic attack in what was regarded as her first deliverance ceremony.
“I was saved from the sea world so that I may serve as a tool in His hands to save others,” Tonto says, explaining that the act was God showing her a glimpse of the ministry He has placed in her life.
Making fruits
The evangelist once known as King Tonto has continued her dedication to the gospel whether she is preaching at the altar, evangelising on the streets, or sharing the word online.
In her most recent sermon, Tonto exhorted her followers to maintain their relationship with God.
The tree will live and produce fruit provided it stays tied to its root.
She wrote on Instagram, “In the same way, when we stay connected to the Source (Jesus Christ), our lives become fruitful.”
According to her, when we sit at Christ’s feet, walk closely with Him, and stay in His presence, He nurtures our growth and enables us to bear fruit that exalts God and helps others.
To conclude her sermon, she cited John 15:5, which states, “I am the vine; you are the branches.” Whoever resides in Me and I in him bears much fruit because you cannot achieve anything without Me.
A journey of faith
In a previous piece, the actress shared her thoughts on faith and becoming closer to God via scripture and fellowship.
Citing James 4:8, which says, “draw near to God, and he will draw near to you,” she emphasised that faith was never meant to stay behind church walls.
She said, “God wants a real relationship with us not just fleeting moments of emotion, but a life that walks closely with Him every day.”
